Wales is beautiful! The land of the retiree, sheep, ponies, rolling green hills, slate walls and medieval architecture. I definitely enjoyed South and West Wales more than North Wales, but I think that might just be because I guess I’m already used to seeing mountains and valleys back home in Vancouver.
We lucked out hard on the weather too and enjoyed mostly sunny days with clear blue skies. Enjoy some visualizations of Wales, land of the wild.
Best Things to do in Wales:
- Explore and hike around Brecon Beacon National Park
- The Four Falls trail where you get to see 4 waterfalls was pretty nice
- Driving through the rolling hills was a lovely experience
- Ride horses in the hilly countryside
- Keep in mind that you’re most likely going to have to ride English
- Explore and consider surfing in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
- The coast has a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere that’s speckled with little surf towns where you can park on the side of the highway, rent a board and a wetsuit and jump straight into the surf, very cool
- The edge of Wales drops from rolling green hills into sharp cliffs before hitting the ocean which is something I’m really not used to seeing coming from the PNW, very visually striking
- Explore, hike and/or climb around Snowdonia National Park
- Northern Wales is made almost entirely of slate making it a bouldering playground
- Good luck with visibility up here however, it’s foggy and cloudy 98% of the time we were told by the locals
