Exploring Alexandra Bridge Provincial Park During COVID-19

I first saw images of Alexandra Bridge while I was indulging in an evening scroll through TikTok before heading to bed. A chiller 2 hour drive from Central Vancouver, Alexandra Bridge Provincial Park is set along the historic Cariboo Wagon Road and highway and crosses the Fraser River a little past Hope. Originally built in 1926, the bridge is an easy 10 minute walk down from the highway and only plays host to foot traffic these days.

Covered in graffiti, the towers of Alexandra Bridge contrasted perfectly against the lush green backdrop of the forest, naturally whitewashed by the elements. Her metal deck and cables were tinted red with rust, simultaneously blending into the environment while also standing out.

Without being able to travel much during the pandemic, it was nice to get out of the city and experience something new with my sister Hillary. This day trip felt super safe and controlled since we drove ourselves up to the spot, didn’t see many people there and were outdoors the whole time. Making photos is something that I think will always bring me a lot of joy and satisfaction and it’s a feeling that I try to bring with me everywhere I go.
